Maria Gorban was born December 26, 1986. Her father worked as an actor in and later as director of the Volkov Theater in Yaroslavl – the first public theater founded by Fyodor Volkov in 1750. Her mother also worked as an actress at the Youth Theater. Her father accepted a job offer in the capital of Russia and Gorban moved with her family to Moscow when she was 6 years old. Although this Russian beauty grew up in a theatrical environment Maria dreamed of becoming a clown. However, in Russia these comic performers were traditionally played by men and chances to succeed in this field as a charming girl were little. However, she was always passionate about play-acting and impressed friend and foe with her comedic talent in her final year at the Russian University of Theater Arts. Maria made her debut in the television series “Simple Truth” and in 2004 she appeared in a music video of Irakli Pirtskhalava. Since then she starred in several movies and theatrical productions. In July 2008 at the Festival of Visual Arts she received an award for “most charming villain” in the movie “Drawing” and later that year for her performance in the same movie she received an award for “best actress” at the “Star Bridge” ceremony in Moscow.
